Rasa is back! In its 25th year, Kalanidhi Dance reprises the critically acclaimed production that put it on the map as the best Kuchipudi ensemble in the country. Vividly expressive, refreshingly innovative and deeply moving, Rasa brings to life the entire range of human emotion defined in Indian Classical Dance through the stunning language of Kuchipudi dance theater. Set against the backdrop of the great Indian epic the Ramayana, Rasa explores the nine sentiments that make up the very essence of human emotion: happiness, love, fear, sorrow, disgust, wonder, anger, courage and peace.
Premiered in Washington in 2005, Rasa toured India in 2007 and “took the audience by storm,” according to The Hindu. Join Kalanidhi Dance this April and revisit the show the Washington Post called “an epic and expressive quest” that “blend both traditional and contemporary elements in a fully realized evening…”
